About Me

My obsession is your information source

My Story

Obsession has alway been a major part of my life. I remember once my wife (then girlfriend) bought me a fish tank for my birthday one year and I decided I needed to know everything about Cichlid fish to the point where I started to breed them.

Years later when we were having our first child it became prams? Which were the lightest? What sort of suspension did it have? Could it go on grass and sand?

Then it was television… well I’ve always been obsessed with TV, but once I got a job in the industry writing, editing and directing TV promotions I became consumed with how I could become the best at it. That’s when I came across DSLR’s. We would use them to do smaller shoots and I had no idea how to use them at the time, but I knew I liked it. Not long after My dad had bought a Canon 5D to take photos of his geese (He’s a goose breeder. I know, random).

When he showed me I took it out around his property and played with it. I was instantly in love. For the next week I was consumed with buying one for myself and the rest of the time I spent convincing my wife why it would be a great investment for our family.

Then it came (insert single choral note) my brand new Canon Rebel T2i (550D) and I never looked back.

My love affair with photography continues till this day and I’ve since upgraded and expanded my kit. I love any and all types of photography. I still work in TV, but also run a little family photography business on the side to give me a reason to go out and shoot most weekends.

I started this site because I have many friends and family coming to me asking photography related questions and I love helping them out with tips and tricks to improve their photography, so I thought why limit it to family and friends (warning new obsession kicking in)? So here it is www.photographyobsessed.com where I can help and share my obsession with photography with you.

Here I am!

Nick struggles with GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). It’s a serious condition suffered by many photographers. To date there is no cure, but the best photographers in the world are working on it… unfortunately though most of the funding for their research is being spent on more gear.
